1. THREAT ANALYSIS

The following crime related matters have a destabilizing and terrorizing effect on the community by installing fear and anxiety in family and friends through:
· Increased levels of petty theft of low to medium value items by crossing property boundaries in the day and at night time, gaining access to cars parked inside or outside the property, gaining access to house or outdoor buildings while the property is attended or unattended. The target properties may be with or without armed response
· Increased levels of forced entries into property by armed gangs assisted by get away cars · Increased levels of hijackings outside or inside the property combined with robbing owners and placing peoples lives at stake
· Increased levels alien inhabitants taking refuge within the residential boundaries and parks
· Residents which have a below standard security property boundary, home security system or early warning system attract criminal elements to the area and make it an easy-hit target area
· Many access routes to the area leaving criminal with many exit routes
· Domestic workers knowingly or unknowingly sharing information to criminals by casual conversation

2. PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

All residents should be encouraged to harden the security status of the residential area, and participate in proactive measures by means of:
· Securing property boundaries
· Securing house and outdoor buildings with appropriate alarm and security devices
· Street numbering to be bold and identifiable from street even at night
· Fitting efficient outdoor lighting
· Closing/locking access gates and garage doors
· Parking vehicles inside secure boundary (if possible)
· Try separating bedrooms from living area with security doors
· Closing of windows of living areas at night
· Being aware of own safety when driving through residential area and approaching own property
· Alerting resident if gate is open or of any suspicious situation
· Being aware of suspicious "markers" on pavement and remove (bottles, sticks, plastics etc.)
· Being sensitive to neighbours safety and wellbeing
